Prestige 3PK GPS Light

The Prestige 3PK is available for GPS Light Triangle racing.
Key features of GPS Light model-
- All fiberglass nose for zero interference with GPS-telemetry devices.
- Stronger wing that can take up to 900 grams of ballast.
- Empty flying weight of about 1900 grams .
- Max ballasted flying weight 2658/2703 (X/V-tail) grams to comply with rules.
- Spar - 100% strength
- Center panel used fabric 120g / m2
- Tips - 58g / m2 plus D box fabric 30g / m2
- We can supply the model ready for flight with servos and motor
- LDS servo/surface gear can be supplied from us with plastic IDS or even our own machined aluminium LDS system specifically made for our models to ensure precise and good geometry when flying fast and accurate
The ballast tubes is located in the center panel for GPS versions . Customers can shorten the bars to their needs.
A few words from Philip Kolb, March 2020- Prestige 2PK
Finally my new toy arrived!
I am amazed by the quality delivered by samba-Model.
Huge thanks to Eva, Jaro and Vlastimil for supplying me with this beautiful plane, which I will use (as soon as we are able to compete again) for the new GPS-triangle Lightclass.
At samba-Model they quickly adapted to the new ruleset and implemented all my wishes for changes to be done for Triangle racing.
The PRESTIGE 2PK GPS features an all glassfibre fuselage-nose to allow interference-free usage of all GPS-telemetry devices.
The wing is extra strong and can bear 900gr. of Brass ballast easily. The empty-weight will be around 1900gr. the maximum allowed AUW to comply with the GPS-Triangle rules for the Light class will be 2598gr.
Now lets see and use the time for getting this plane ready to fly. I am really excited to make a "racer" out of an F5J-plane.
Stay healthy, safe and home....and hopefully see you along the flying sites soon again!

Minimum and Maximum AUW for F5J (12g/dm) and GPS-Triangle Lightclass (33g/dm).
02.2026:
Jaroslav Vostřel installs his new GPS Light machine for the upcoming season. PRESTIGE 3PK V tail.
Several improvements in the drive compared to my previous PRESTIGE 2PK PRO. For the drive I used the proven DUALSKY 3045EG-8 engine. To improve aerodynamics I used a CCM 12/6 propeller and a CCM 30/5 cone. It sits very nicely on the fuselage in all positions. Thanks to the slightly larger fuselage cross-section and larger cabin (compared to the 2PK), I was able to use a larger SLS Quantum 3S 2450 mAh battery. This drive provides sufficient energy supply for this year as well, the maximum load is increased to 33g/dm2, which is 2973 g for the PRESTIGE 3PK V tail. I used a YGE65LV as a controller. To increase safety I used a backup 2 x lion 800mAh. Beware some motors controllers can use power from servo wire/backup so might need a diode. I have the BEC set to 8.2 V on the controller, which automatically charges the backup battery. Tested on my Pike Paradigm. (thanks for the advice Philip Kolb) (the backup battery must be charged at the beginning of each season with a charger, a too discharged battery could over-load the weak power cable and connectors in the receiver by charging via the BEC.
Due to the current unavailability of the Eagle 2 PRO unit, I used my backup much larger RAVEN 2.
When the weather is suitable, I will go try it and let you know

😃FINALLY nice weather😃
5°C wind 4-6 m/s. Partly cloudy.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to test my new PRESTIGE 3PK GPS V-tail. In addition to the flight characteristics, I was also very curious about the new drive. DUALSKY XM3045-EG8 + SLS Quantum 3S 2450 mAh + YGE65LV + CCM 12/6 CCM 30/5 cone + backup 2 x lion 800mAh.
Measured facts: With the PRESTIGE 3PK GPS RTF Weight 2973g (increased maximum load 33g/dm2 according to the new rules) I was able to climb briefly 3 times in a row to 250 m and then 20 minutes of flight.
After landing, there was still 21% energy left in the battery. Climb 8 m/s. The motor had a consumption of 38 A. The climb is not miraculous, but fully sufficient. And more importantly, I can climb about 800 m in total. Which means that even in adverse weather conditions I can repeat the start many times within the start time window. The drive is very solid and does not overheat. The low price with a very long service life and zero maintenance is very pleasant.
Of course, this is a reliable drive even for pilots who want to fly many hours on slope with the possibility of an emergency engine start.👍
The advantage of backup batteries is, among other things, that I can adjust the deflection setttings when only the backup batteries are turned on. This way I avoid unintentional engine start-up, which happens once in a lifetime to almost everyone 😉
I am rather conservative and that is why I have only flown with an X-tail for the last 22 years. Specifically for 3PK, the V-tail is an interesting and very functional alternative. It is very maneuverable, very easy to turn and when flying straight you feel that the model has an endless desire to fly forward with great energy 😍.
Philip Kolb's genitally developed V-tail with a fuselage extended by 95 mm has created a great machine. By the way, the original Prestige 2PK and PRO were produced in the V-tail version at about 20%. The PRESTIGE 3PK is produced at about 85% with V-tail
A great advantage of the 3PK is the possibility of replacing only the tail with a boom when converting from an X-tail to a V-tail. (Beware length pushrods because of servo position)
Last year I flew a PRESTIGE 2PK PRO with an x-tail and 8° joiners on the tips. Yesterday I used 6° joiners with the 3PK. Probably also thanks to the longer fuselage, I felt comfortable stability when turning. I look forward to warmer weather, when I will be able to devote more time to more careful model setup.
I also tried out the newly installed Albatros 4.4.2 on a tablet. Everything worked perfectly. What I appreciated most was the Bluetooth headphones, which do not restrict my movement.😀

Connecting the servos is as quick and easy as the whole mounting of the fuselage. Boom Vtail/Xtail can be exchanged but beware servos have different length and position
